Automobile exports continue to post robust growth, with monthly export volumes exceeding 1 million units for two consecutive months. In August 2026, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers held an information briefing, releasing data on the country’s automobile production and sales for July, as well as an overview of the sector’s economic performance. During July, China’s automotive market entered its traditional off-season, with passenger traffic and order volumes declining and monthly sales posting a seasonal drop. Nevertheless, automobile exports continued to grow at a rapid pace, with monthly export volumes exceeding one million units for two consecutive months. The share of new-energy vehicle exports surpassed 50% for the second month in a row, while the proportion of new‑energy vehicles in total new‑car sales exceeded 60% for the first time.

 

On August 25, the “AI + Manufacturing” special session of Zhejiang Province’s “Ten Chains, Hundred Events, Ten Thousand Enterprises” series of matchmaking events was held in Hangzhou. AI service providers and manufacturing firms engaged in face-to-face exchanges to jointly advance the deep integration of AI with the manufacturing sector. Hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, the event aimed to facilitate precise matching between supply and demand by building platforms, streamlining value chains, and pooling resources. Zhejiang is steadily driving artificial intelligence from isolated applications toward systematic implementation.

 

At the 2026 APEC Customs–Business Dialogue held on August 20, a People’s Daily reporter learned that from January to July, China’s total trade with other APEC economies reached RMB 18.03 trillion, up 21% year on year—outpacing the overall growth rate of China’s merchandise trade during the same period. Recently, five departments—the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the People’s Bank of China, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the National Administration of Financial Regulation—jointly issued the “Guiding Opinions on Promoting Diversified Investment in Scientific and Technological Innovation in the Field of Ecology and Environment.” The primary goal is to establish, by 2030, a diversified investment framework that aligns with the distinctive characteristics of innovation in this field, featuring richer policy tools, a more comprehensive financial product system, significantly enhanced participation by financial institutions, and continuously improved efficiency in translating scientific and technological achievements into practical applications.
